BILLING DISCLOSURE

Kodiak PODBilling

BrandLift Product Personalizer is a Shopify app. App subscription fees ($39, $79, or $299/month) are billed through the standard Shopify Billing API. This page explains a separate, optional charge: Kodiak POD fulfillment costs, which are processed via Stripe — the same model used by Printify, Printful, and other on-demand fulfillment providers.

In one sentence

If you choose to fulfill orders through Kodiak Decorated Products (our first-party POD service), the cost of producing and shipping those physical goods is charged directly to your Stripe-stored payment method — never to a customer, and never bundled with your Shopify app subscription.

The two billing rails

BrandLift uses two completely separate billing channels.

Rail 1

App Subscription

Monthly subscription for the BrandLift app.

  • • Processed via Shopify Billing API
  • • Plans: Basic $39, Scale $79, Enterprise $299
  • • Appears on your Shopify invoice
  • • 14-day free trial

Rail 2

Kodiak POD Fulfillment

Per-order production + shipping cost (only if you use Kodiak POD).

  • • Processed via Stripe
  • • Charged when an order enters production
  • • Optional — you can use the app without ever using Kodiak POD
  • • Same model as Printify, Printful, Gooten

A failed Kodiak POD charge does not affect your Shopify subscription status. A canceled Shopify subscription does not cancel any in-flight Kodiak POD orders.

Why Stripe for fulfillment costs?

Shopify's Billing API is designed for app subscription fees and usage-based software charges. Physical product fulfillment requires capabilities that fall outside that scope:

  • Per-order, variable-amount charges (product cost × quantity + shipping)
  • Multiple payment methods on file with merchant-selectable default
  • Real-time charge confirmation that gates production start
  • Configurable dunning sequences and automatic retry logic for failed payments
  • Refund processing tied to specific order line items

Stripe's PaymentIntent API supports all of these natively. This is the same approach used by every major POD platform integrated with Shopify, and is explicitly permitted under Shopify App Store Section 5.5.3 (charges for goods and services not provided by the app itself).

How a Kodiak POD charge works

  1. 1An order containing a Kodiak POD product arrives in your Shopify store.
  2. 2BrandLift creates a corresponding Kodiak order with status pending.
  3. 3You review the production cost breakdown (product cost, quantity, shipping) inside the app.
  4. 4You click "Pay & Start Production" — or, if you've enabled auto-charge, the system charges automatically.
  5. 5Stripe charges your saved payment method for the exact server-calculated amount.
  6. 6On success, the order enters production at our Green Bay, WI facility. On failure, you're notified and dunning begins.
  7. 7You receive a Stripe receipt and can download a PDF invoice from the app's Invoices tab.

Security & PCI compliance

BrandLift is PCI-compliant under Stripe's SAQ-A integration model. No cardholder data ever touches our servers.

What we store

  • • Stripe Customer ID
  • • Stripe Payment Method ID (a token, not a card number)
  • • Charge amount, status, timestamps
  • • Last 4 digits of card (display only)

What we never store

  • • Full card numbers
  • • CVV / CVC codes
  • • Full expiration dates
  • • Anything that increases PCI scope

All API communication is over TLS 1.2+. All Stripe webhooks are signature-verified. Charge calculations happen server-side; the client never submits a dollar amount.

How to enroll

Kodiak POD is opt-in. Nothing is charged to Stripe until you explicitly enable Kodiak fulfillment and approve your first order.

  1. Install BrandLift Product Personalizer from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Open the app and navigate to Settings → Kodiak POD.
  3. Click Enable Kodiak Fulfillment and accept the Kodiak POD terms.
  4. Add a payment method via the embedded Stripe Elements form.
  5. Choose your default card and configure auto-charge preferences (off by default).

You can disable Kodiak POD at any time from the same settings page. Saved payment methods can be removed individually.

Refunds, disputes, and support

Refunds for production defects, shipping damage, or order errors are issued via Stripe and reflected in the app within minutes of processing. Disputes (chargebacks) are handled per Stripe's standard process; affected orders are flagged in the app immediately upon webhook receipt.
